Launching Coding and Robotics Course in Public Schools

Description

Under this District Grant project, some 360 middle school students from six public schools in Lalitpur district were imparted with skills and knowledge on fundamentals of coding and robotics through a boot camp of 12 sessions each enabling them to gain hand-on experience and develop practical projects addressing needs in daily life. The participating schools were Bajra Barahi HS, Chapagaon, Buddha HS, Badegaon and Padam Prakash HS, Dhapakhel, Bani Bilas HS, Pyangaon, Mahendra Adarsh HS, Imadol and Siddhi Mangal HS, Siddhipur. Six projects each on coding and robotics were designed and prepared in each school through interactive and fully participatory sessions. Prepared projects were exhibited by two schools (Bajra Barahi and Buddha) is a science exhibition held at Kitini school in December 2025, while other four schools are organizing exhibitions in their respective schools in the coming month to showcase those projects to all stakeholders, as they have just started their academic year and looking for a right slot to organize such event synchronizing with the school calendar. As a result of this initiative, those young students from six public schools in Lalitpur district benefited from exposure to this modern day digital skills, and were inspired to further pursue such market ready skills through more such opportunities, who belong mostly from marginalized communities. The project also helped gain attention of the local municipalities on the importance of integrating such courses in the public schools, which are not only valuable in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields but also applicable across various disciplines towards cultivating well-rounded individuals capable of tackling real-world challenges.
